With the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics coming up in just two years, multilingual speech translation systems are being looked upon as a means for foreign tourists to overcome the language barrier, as well as a tool to as encourage tourism in Japan's attractive rural areas. At the fourth exhibition hosted by the LDP's Research Commission on Info-Communications Strategy (Chairperson: Jiro Kawasaki, member of the House of Representatives), Policy Research Council Chairperson Fumio Kishida and Research Commission Chairperson Kawasaki received an explanation of VoiceTra, a voice translation application.
