Secretary-General Toshihiro Nikai led a delegation to Russia that included more than 200 politicians, government officials, and business leaders. During their meeting, he invited Prime Minister Dimitry Medvedev to visit Japan, spoke about the "LDP's desire to make a concerted effort to develop Japan-Russia relations," and emphasized the need for greater interaction between "United Russia," the country's ruling party, and the LDP.
