Prime Minister and LDP President Abe met with Ayatollah Khamenei, Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran. His visit and his meeting with the Supreme Leader were a valuable contribution to mitigating tensions and stabilizing the situation in the region. Mr. Khamenei expressed his desire for peace, telling Prime Minister Abe, "We will not produce, hold or use nuclear weapons. We have no intention of doing so, and it is not something that should be done." Mr. Abe noted his concerns about the growing tensions.
