Prime Minister and LDP President Shinzo Abe and US President Donald Trump confirmed the strength of the Japan-US alliance and bonds of trust at the Japan-US summit. The leaders of the two countries agreed on the necessity of full implementation of the Security Council resolutions for the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula. On economic issues, they reconfirmed their commitment to expand trade and investment between Japan and the United States in ways that benefit both countries as outlined in the joint statement agreed to in September, and to achieve economic development for a free, open, rules-based Indo-Pacific region.
