Prime Minister and LDP President Shinzo Abe attended the 2016 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders' Meeting held in Lima, Peru. In alignment with the Meeting's theme of "Quality Growth and Human Development," he argued that "free trade is the source of growth for the world economy" and stated Japan's position of promoting free trade against protectionism, which could widen economic gaps. He also provided leaders with an introduction to the "Dynamic Engagement of All Citizens" program and its goal of an inclusive economy.
