Prime Minister Abe met with Juan Orlando Hernandez, the President of the Republic of Honduras, who was in Japan to mark the 80th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. Japan's Self-Defense Forces were sent to Honduras to provide its first emergency relief mission after a disastrous hurricane in 1998. The Prime Minister promised to maintain assistance for social and economic development, and the leaders expressed their resolve to strengthen their coordination on issues such as the reform of the United Nations Security Council.
