Prime Minister Shinzo Abe expressed his appreciation for what the G7 has accomplished in the forty years since the first summit in supporting liberty, democracy, human rights, rule of law, and international order. He also voiced concerns over the increase in tensions in the East China Sea and South China Sea, including large landfill projects, and explained that Japan would contribute 1.5 billion dollars to the "Green Climate Fund" as part of its effort to address climate change.
