LDP's Chief Deputy Secretary-General Mikio Hayashi and Director Itsunori Onodera of Foreign Affairs Division visited the Haiti Embassy in Tokyo on January 15 to deliver donations for Haitian earthquake victims. Mr Hayashi told Mr. Jean-Claude Bordes, Charge-D'affaires of the Embassy, that the LDP had requested the Japanese government to take prompt action to provide relief for the Haitian people. "Since Japan has experienced many earthquakes, we have the capabilities and knowledge to deal with the aftermath", said Mr Hayashi. Mr Onodera, on behalf of the LDP and the Japanese people, passed on his condolences to the people of the Haiti who had suffered so much from the earthquake. Mr Bordes thanked the LDP executives on behalf of the Republic of Haiti. The Haitian president had sent a message to the Embassy in Japan expressing his gratitude for the support that the Japanese people had extended.
