Albania had been a socialist country with a quasi-closed door policy for many years, but largely changed its policy in 1990. Since then, it has been making every effort to return to the global community and strengthen its diplomatic relations with the developed nations. Albania opened its embassy in Tokyo last November, and has been working to strengthen its relationship with Japan, which was lacking in terms of both mutual visits by individuals and economic trade. The two sides agreed that the current visit to Japan would be used as a catalyst to accelerate the deepening of bilateral relations in the coming years. |
