On the 18th October, South Korean Ambassador to Japan, Mr. Ra Jong-yil paid a courtesy call to Takebe Secretary-General and on the 20th to Fumio Kyuma, Chairman of the LDP General Council and Kaoru Yasano, Chairman of the LDP Policy Research Council. Ambassador Ra said of his meetings with the officials, "The relationship between Japan and South Korea is an emotional one but also a very good one. While there are difficult issues such as the FTA negotiations and the history textbook issue, discussion between out politicians and discussion between both countries should proceed actively." LDP officials commented in reply, "It's a very good thing that Korea dramas such as 'Fuyu No Sonata' are being spontaneously accepted in Japan. There are difficult problems between our two countries, but we would like to proceed in a positive direction through frequent political discussion." |
